Sphæræ is a low-power portable performance and experimentation platfrom for the arts and sciences for an audience upto 100 guests. Sphæræ can touch down on uncharted territories making temporary ecosystems with fragile and complex atmospheric conditions as an instrument to explore the phenomena of light, sound and movement.
This project by Cocky Eek mimics the geometry of soap-bubble clusters. The Sphæræ performance program is developed in collaboration with Synergetica Studiolab and the ArtScience interfaculty.

Based on the work of Christopher Alexander, Cocky Eek developed a pattern-language which can be used for inflatable architecture. This study resulted in the design of a lightweight pavilion, inspired on the clustering of soap bubbles, built up from five semi-transparant domes.

For the whole month of June 2015 Sphæræ was the testbed for a range of artists invited by iii to experiment and develop new artworks for the venue, with a main focus on the in-depth exploration of the unique auditive, visual and spatial affordances of Sphæræ.
